Thanksgiving Ceremony of Gratitude

10 nov 2024

A Ceremony of Thanksgiving will be held on Sunday, November 12. It begins at 9 am with an informal sitting and is followed by the ceremony at 10:00.

Family members of all ages are welcome to attend this special ceremony of gratitude. Everyone is invited to attend the sitting, too, if they wish. Non-sitters could wait in the living room or come at 10 am. The sitting begins at the usual time of 9:00 am. There is no dokusan.

Ceremony Details

During our annual Thanksgiving ceremony, we make food offerings, read words of gratitude, chant, offer incense, circumambulate, and end with a special gatha of gratitude.

Afterwards, please join us for pie, cider, and bagels.

Remember to bring a packaged vegetarian food offering for the emergency food shelf. This will be presented at the altar as part of the ceremony.

If you are attending via Zoom, please enter your anonymous statement of gratitude on the form that will pop-up on your screen when you click the button below. (You may have to double click.) Gratitude statements will be read during the ceremony. This is only for Zoomers. Those who are attending the ceremony in person will have a chance to write their statements during the informal sitting.
